Arcadia-owned men’s retailer Burton has launched a social media campaign to promote its partnership with men’s health charity Movember Foundation. Burton is a major sponsor of the event, in which men are sponsored to grow moustaches for the duration of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, in particular prostate cancer. The campaign centres around an online retail site where consumers can buy Movember-themed Burton merchandise, from which £1 goes to the charity. This will be supported by activity on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube, as well as an iPhone app which allows users to add a moustache to pictures of friends. The Burton Facebook page has a Movember tab where users can find out how to get involved and read news and updates on the cause. Facebook users can also access an application which lets them upload images of their ‘mo’ as well as view and rate other ‘mo bros’ efforts. The campaign was created by digital agency Redant and will run throughout November.
